Terms of Service

Effective date: October 5, 2026 · Last updated: October 5, 2026

The terms for your Clapboard account, workspace, content and subscription.

1. Agreement and eligibility

These Terms of Service govern your use of Clapboard ("Clapboard", "we", "us"), including its website and content-production workspace. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

You must be at least 13 years old, or the higher minimum age required where you live. If you are not old enough to enter a binding agreement, a parent or guardian must authorize your use. If you use Clapboard for an organization, you must have authority to accept these terms on its behalf.

2. Your account and security

Provide accurate account information and keep it up to date. You are responsible for protecting your sign-in credentials and for activity under your account. Do not share your login; invite collaborators using their own accounts instead.

Report suspected unauthorized access promptly through the in-app Feedback option. We may take reasonable steps to protect accounts and investigate misuse.

3. Workspace ownership and collaboration

A workspace owner controls membership and the workspace subscription. Invited members can access and change shared workspace content within the permissions provided by the service. Owners are responsible for inviting appropriate people and removing access when it is no longer needed.

Changes may be synchronized between members. If people edit the same information at the same time, the last saved change may replace an earlier one. Keep separate copies of important material.

Deleting a workspace owner's account permanently deletes their entire workspace, including its projects, scripts, ideas, sponsor deals and file links. Members lose access to that workspace but keep their own accounts. Removing a member does not transfer ownership of the workspace.

4. Your content

You retain your rights to the ideas, scripts, media, notes and other material you add to Clapboard. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive permission to store, process, transmit and display that material only as needed to provide, secure and maintain the service, including sharing it with people you invite.

You are responsible for your content and for obtaining the rights and permissions needed to upload, link, share or publish it. This includes copyright, privacy, publicity and sponsor obligations. Clapboard does not acquire ownership of your content or promise that it is cleared for publication.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use Clapboard for unlawful activity, fraud, harassment, infringement, or distributing malicious code. Do not upload content that violates another person's rights or expose personal information without a lawful basis.

Do not attempt to bypass plan limits or access controls, access another user's data without permission, interfere with the service, or exploit vulnerabilities. Automated access must not disrupt the service or evade its restrictions.

6. Free and paid plans

There is no free trial. The Free plan lets you test the core workflow without a paid subscription, with up to 3 active projects, 10 inbox ideas and one content type. Additional features and collaboration depend on your plan.

Paid plans are priced per user per month. Solo covers one user, Teams bills a minimum of 2 seats and supports 2–25 members, and Studio bills a minimum of 5 seats and is intended for larger studios. The workspace owner's plan applies to the shared workspace.

Monthly subscriptions are billed monthly. Yearly subscriptions are charged for the year in advance; any monthly equivalent is shown for comparison. Yearly discounts are 5% for Solo, 10% for Teams and 25% for Studio. Current rates and terms appear on the Pricing page and at checkout.

7. Payments, renewals and invoices

Prices are in Canadian dollars unless stated otherwise. Applicable taxes and the total payable are shown at checkout. Stripe processes payments; payment details are subject to Stripe's applicable terms. Receipts, invoices and billing notices are sent to the billing email associated with your purchase.

By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges for your selected billing cycle until you cancel. Billed seats follow workspace membership, subject to your plan's minimum. Check your seat count before adding or removing members and review the amount shown in billing.

Any separately agreed account-specific pricing or free time applies according to that arrangement. Failed payments may result in restricted paid access. Future price changes will be disclosed before they apply, so you can cancel before the affected renewal.

8. Plan changes, cancellation and refunds

Manage billing from the Plans page. Subscription plan changes take effect at the end of your current billing period. You can cancel renewal at any time; paid access continues until the end of the period already paid for, then the workspace moves to Free.

A downgrade or cancellation does not delete your workspace content. If you exceed the new plan's limits, Clapboard shows the affected items and counts; features may be locked and further additions limited until you reduce usage or upgrade.

Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not itself issue a refund. Refund requests and billing errors can be raised through the in-app Feedback option and are reviewed individually, subject to any mandatory refund or consumer rights where you live. These terms do not limit those rights.

Before deleting your account, cancel any active paid subscription through Plans and save copies of content you need. Do not assume that deleting an account replaces subscription cancellation.

9. Connected services

Optional services such as Google Drive, external file links and Google sign-in remain subject to their providers' terms and availability. You choose whether to connect them and are responsible for the sharing permissions on externally stored files.

Google Drive uploads use your own connected account and the permissions you authorize. You can disconnect it in Clapboard. Disconnecting or deleting Clapboard does not itself delete files stored in your external services; manage those files with the relevant provider.

10. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and retain personal information. Workspace members can see shared content, so only add information that you are authorized to share with them.

Read the Privacy Policy

11. Availability and service changes

We work to keep Clapboard available, but do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation or preservation of every change. Maintenance, outages and third-party interruptions may affect the service. Keep independent copies of important work and confirm schedules and financial figures before relying on them.

We may update features or the service over time. If we discontinue the service or materially change paid access, we will provide reasonable notice where practicable and honor applicable legal obligations.

12. Suspension and termination

We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to address violations of these terms, nonpayment, security risks or legal requirements. Where appropriate and lawful, we will give notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue.

You may stop using the service and delete your account from Account settings. Owner deletion removes the entire workspace and every member's access. Some billing or other records may be retained as required by law, as explained in the Privacy Policy.

13. Disclaimers and limits of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Clapboard is provided "as is" and "as available", without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not guarantee creator revenue, publishing results or fulfillment of your sponsor obligations.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, including lost profits or lost opportunities. Our total liability for claims relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid for Clapboard in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

These exclusions and limits do not apply where prohibited by law, including liability that cannot legally be excluded. Your mandatory statutory and consumer rights remain unaffected.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms and will post the revised version with an updated date. For material changes, we will provide notice in the app or through an appropriate account notice before they take effect, except when an immediate change is required for legal or security reasons. Continuing to use the service after the effective date means you accept the revised terms, to the extent permitted by law.

15. Questions and general terms

For questions about these terms or your subscription, use Feedback while signed in. The Help & FAQ page contains account and billing instructions. Please provide enough information to identify the issue, but do not send passwords or payment card details.

If part of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These terms, any agreed subscription terms and applicable mandatory law govern your use of the service.
